The Tamarack Institute is a Registered Canadian Charity dedicated to ending poverty in all its forms and skill-building for changemakers. Many of our workshops, webinars and online training courses are focused on place and community.

2025 Changemaker experience

The Changemaker Experience is intentionally designed as an intimate, small-group learning experience. The 2025 Changemaker Experience cohort will be limited to 100 participants. Participants will build connections and become a peer learning group to share successful practices and challenges in driving community and systems-level change.

This workshop will look at what it really takes to move toward collective leadership. You’ll get practical tools and resources to help you think critically about how leadership and governance work in nonprofits today. Embark on a journey to deepen your understanding of anti-racism and Indigenous cultural competency and frameworks, as well as the modern-day impacts of historical oppression, as you work to create culturally responsive change in your community change efforts.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion + Community Change

This learning cohort will equip participants with skills in handling challenging conversations related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in community settings. You'll gain strategies to create inclusive policies, spaces and practices and develop a shared understanding of language.

Adaptive and Resilient Communities Cohort

The Adaptive and Resilient Communities Cohort (ARCC) is designed to catalyze community-level actions to advance local climate adaptation and resilience projects. The cohort will bring together 15 collaborative teams (i.e., collaborations between at least two partners) for a year-long journey of applied learning and action that includes communities of practice, tailored coaching, and access to the latest thinking, tools, and resources, all designed to help you overcome your barriers to action.
